About this piece
A knife blunts in a drawer, against other steel. Here each blade drops into its own slot, angled so it slides in without being pushed, and the cheeks either side are clear acrylic. The edge stands in air, touching nothing, and you can see which knife you are reaching for before you reach. The body is solid pine with the slots cut on the router and a dowel through each divider. It screws to the wall through the back board; the fixings are hidden once the knives are in.
Wipe out with a dry cloth. Do not put it in water: the acrylic is fine, the pine is not. Knives go in dry. A wet blade left standing marks any wood.
