About this piece
The same job as the star base and a different drawing of it. The legs are round tube drawn down to a point at the floor, so the base looks thinner than it is and the eye follows the taper rather than stopping at an edge. They cross once at the centre and carry two flat bars at the top, which is what the tabletop bolts to. Wide enough at the floor that nobody kicks a leg, narrow enough at the middle that chairs go where they want.
Wipe with a dry cloth. Touch up a chip before it has a chance to rust.
